Welcome to First Lutheran Church!
First Evangelical Lutheran Church is a Christ-centered and Bible-based family of sinners. Jesus Christ is at the heart of our message and mission. His perfect life on this earth and death on a cross paid the full price that all our sins deserved. Sinful people like you and me receive full forgiveness and new life in Christ alone. Because we believe that the Bible is the true Word of God, it serves as the only authority for our faith and life.

At First Evan you can expect to hear two important truths throughout the service. The first is that each one of us is a sinful human. We don’t deserve anything good from God, let alone heaven, because every person has failed to live up to God’s standards. A clear understanding of that truth is important in order to understand the second truth—the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus is true God who became true man. He perfectly obeyed all of God’s commands and fulfilled all God’s requirements while living on this earth. Then he was killed, crucified just outside Jerusalem. On that cross, Jesus suffered God’s punishment for every sin that all people have committed. At the same time, the perfect life he lived was credited to each of us. We receive the blessings of this great exchange through faith—believing and trusting that this is true. Now, being perfect in God’s eyes, we have the promise of eternal life in heaven as well as the certainty of God’s care for the rest of this life.

We would love to have you join us for worship at our historic church (founded in 1849). The church building has been around for over 110 years. The message proclaimed inside has been around for almost 2000 years. Come hear and learn the truths of God’s Word preached unapologetically, truths that don’t change with the opinions of people or societies. Come discover the peace and joy that are yours in all circumstances of life. Hear of the Savior’s love that acted on your behalf and connect to his Word that strengthens you through life’s ups and downs.

Bible Information Class
Interested in learning about our church? The pastors teach a class designed for people interested in joining the church or simply wishing to find out what the Bible and our church teaches. This class meets once a week and varies in size. Most often it meets Sunday mornings at 9:15, but we are flexible and can meet you at different times of the week if necessary. Contact the church office or one of the pastors if interested.
